Do masonic initiation rituals mock women and the afflicted?

There is a part of the masonic initiation ritual in which the aspiring freemason is required to roll up his trouser-legs, apparently to display the robustness of his calves. This surely discriminates not only against women, but the limbless, the wheelchair-bound and sufferers from skin diseases?
